Red Carpet Recap: SAG Awards

Featured

Last night’s SAG awards may be over, but we have a full fashion recap here just for you!  With last night’s airing of the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Hollywood’s leading ladies stepped out with many opting for dresses of various hues of Blue…and the jewelry certainly didn’t disappoint, we are happy to report.

While some went with stunning statement stone earrings… most went with Diamonds, a girl’s best friend. From earrings, to necklaces to bracelets, Diamonds were the choice accessory for nearly every celebrity on the red carpet this year.

While we loved the looks of Amanda Seyfried in Zac posenMarion Cotillard in Christian Dior Haute Couture, and Tina Frey with her embellished belted Oscar de la Renta dress… last night’s Red Carpet looks that knocked it out of the part for us were:

Jessica Chastain in the Harry Winston Water Diamond Necklace, Nicole Kidman in Fred Leighton Jade Pendant Earrings, Sophia Vergara in Neil Lane Ruby and Platinum Earrings and Viola Davis in Cathy Waterman Coral and Diamond earrings. These ladies truly proved that “the devil is in the details” with their choice of adornment.

Looks we loved most were the stars bedecked in shades of Deep Navy (next to the abundance of JEWELRY, of course!)- and here is our rundown below of our fave hits of the night:

Spring Earring Update: Big & Bold

When photos circulated recently of Ashlee Simpton-Wentz rocking a new platinum pixie cut and mega-big Chanel earrings, my first thought was refreshing in this season of uber-long tresses on the runway. My second thought was envy as I have always wanted to go that short but have yet to get the nerve. My favorite part of Ashlee’s shorn head is the fact that her earrings literally have a life of their own…and as seen in many recent photos she’s clearly not afraid of the term Go Big or Go Home. Love that!

It’s exciting to see that statement earrings aren’t just for those with long enough hair to understate them…now THE look is clearly large and in charge in the earring department. Here are a couple of our latest Big and Bold fave’s available at Laura James Jewelry:

New Year, New Designs for Laura James Jewelry!

Happy 2011!

I am very excited to share that there are many new designs (and fabulous Spring colors!) for necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets floating in my head that will be soon making an appearance at Laura James Jewelry – in store and online. I have just come into some fantastic new vintage baubles that I can’t wait to add to my new Spring 2011 collection. Color is key this year as you will see in the photos from the runway- playful chartreuse, coral pink, orange and aqua will be a big part of 2011 in clothing and jewelry.  Whether or not you’re heading somewhere warm this Spring, update your basic whites with a punch of colorful jewelry- we’ll have plenty for you very soon!

Happy New Year!

~Laura James

OMG…Gossip Girl Glam “Gaslit”

I have to say as much as I can’t stand Little “J” and this whole Goth look she’s had going for the past season and half; I do have to hand it to her for being brave enough in last night’s episode to come clean to no other than Queen “B”, Blair, about what she, Vanessa, and nasty Juliet did to Serena! Therefor I figured due to her act of bravery in last night’s episode and rumors swirling that the teen queen may be leaving Gossip Girl, I could overlook my distaste of her Goth look and find something nice to say about Little J for this weeks Gossip Girl Glam Report…so pay close attention for this may never happen again!

In the photo above we see that her bravery not only pertains to facing Blair but also to her fashion sense, while I think the lip color is too harsh for her fair complexion, I do like that she was daring and brave enough to wear large Statement Dangle Earrings paired with a large Statement Pendant Necklace.  Many are hesitant to try this look but Little J pulls off the look without looking over accessorized!
So if you dare to be brave like Little J know you can always find your perfect pair of large Vintage Statement Dangle Earrings and large Vintage Statement Pendant Necklaces at www.laurajamesjewelry.com.

NYC Editorial Suite Update!

Ok, so to give you all an update on my recent trip to NYC (see earlier blog below) to showcase Laura James Jewelry to the many fantastic editors and writers for the likes of InStyle, O, Elle, Marie Claire publications, the trip was a huge success! The Editorial Suite at the Bryant Park Hotel is a wonderful opportunity for the editors to see and touch the jewelry in person- which always makes a difference as opposed to merely seeing photos online or flipping through books of photos. It is also important to meet the editors face to face, especially if your name is your brand!

All of the editors were as usual decked out in the latest trends from head to toe- which is always intimidating, however they are nothing but nice and full of compliments which takes the edge off. Many times they will pull jewelry on site for upcoming features and rapidly take photos of the lines that they like for future issues. Laura James Jewelry received great attention and we are excited with fingers crossed to see what happens this year!

Cheers!

Laura James

OMG…Gossip Girl Glam “Juliet Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”

Juliet may not live here anymore but she most certainly made the most of her last minutes dazzling in the Vintage Statement Necklace seen in photo above which she paired with a grand Cocktail Ring, worn on her first finger,  a sure fire attention grabbing combo perfect for the opening night at the Ballet!  So here’s to you Juliet! You take top honors in our Gossip Girl Glam Poll for the week, however count yourself lucky that your behavior is not taken into account for this award for your antics should have you band from the Upper East Side for Life…oh but wait Blair, Chuck, Serena, and Nate did banish you so it is a just world after all!   Enjoy your last moments of Glam while we highlight other Glam looks from last nights episode!
Glam Spotlight Shone Bright on These Looks from Last Night too:
While I was not wild about the dress I did love Serena’s Statement Vintage Art Deco Earrings she paired with this look therefore gaining her place on our weekly spotlight list.
I will give an A for effort for trying to make Vanessa look like she belonged at the Opening Night of the Ballet or anywhere near the Upper East Side, and I did truly like the Dangle Earrings paired with this dress, but still we all know she is nothing but a she-wolf in sheep’s clothing.  So it’s only fitting that she and Juliet, this week’s Gossip Girl Glam Poll Winner, will be teaming up to try to take down Serena in episodes still to come this season!
So until next week keep “Glam” with Jewelry from Laura James Jewelry Studio Boutique in historic Dilworth in Charlotte, NC or online at www.laurajamesjewelry.com
