get the look: emmy’s looks we love in blue

TV’s Leading Ladies Looked Stunning in Many Hues of Blue! We especially loved the blue hued looks worn by Allison Williams, seen in Ralph Lauren’s pleated blue gown this fresh from the runway look shown just weeks ago in his Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 runway show.  We also loved seeing Tina Fey, in any color other than black, in fact we were so wild for Tina in cobalt blue, Narcisco Rodriguez bias-cut halter gown that we barely noticed her on stage Sunday night nip slip; so nip slip or not Tina rocked this bold blue look! Other standout blue hues we loved were those worn by Nurse Jackie’s, Edie Falco, in Escada’s periwinkle blue curve loving look to the light blue hues worn by Zoe Deschanel and “Mad Men’s” Jessica Pare. Cheers to all you leading ladies of the small screen who dared to be bold and brave stepping out and standing out from the rest in your gorgeous shades of blue for Sunday night’s  Primetime Emmy Awards!  You too can look great in blue with beautiful vintage blue jewelry from Laura James Jewelry!

Red Carpet Recap: SAG Awards

Featured

Last night’s SAG awards may be over, but we have a full fashion recap here just for you!  With last night’s airing of the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Hollywood’s leading ladies stepped out with many opting for dresses of various hues of Blue…and the jewelry certainly didn’t disappoint, we are happy to report.

While some went with stunning statement stone earrings… most went with Diamonds, a girl’s best friend. From earrings, to necklaces to bracelets, Diamonds were the choice accessory for nearly every celebrity on the red carpet this year.

While we loved the looks of Amanda Seyfried in Zac posenMarion Cotillard in Christian Dior Haute Couture, and Tina Frey with her embellished belted Oscar de la Renta dress… last night’s Red Carpet looks that knocked it out of the part for us were:

Jessica Chastain in the Harry Winston Water Diamond Necklace, Nicole Kidman in Fred Leighton Jade Pendant Earrings, Sophia Vergara in Neil Lane Ruby and Platinum Earrings and Viola Davis in Cathy Waterman Coral and Diamond earrings. These ladies truly proved that “the devil is in the details” with their choice of adornment.

Looks we loved most were the stars bedecked in shades of Deep Navy (next to the abundance of JEWELRY, of course!)- and here is our rundown below of our fave hits of the night:

fave dresses:

Amanda Seyfried: Navy Zac Posen gown Lorraine Schwartz lavender jade-and-diamond pendant necklace

Tina Fey: Oscar de la Renta Dress + Fred Leighton Embellished Belt and Stacked Bangle Bracelets

Marion Cotillard: Christian Dior Haute Couture + 54-carat Chopard diamond-and-platinum necklace

Other Noteworthy Looks

Nina Dobrev: Eli Saab + Judith Lieber clutch + Neil Lane Earrings

Giuliana Rancic: Max Azria Atelier dress

Lea Michele: Hot Pink Valentino + Jennifer Meyer Jewelry

fave earring trends: large in scale + long

jewelry trends for 2013

Featured

It’s nearly that time…time to ring in another year, believe it or not! In all of the holiday madness beginning in November with Thanksgiving it is hard to imagine that we have one more big one to celebrate on the horizon…the beginning of 2013.

With every new year brings new Trends, of course, and what better way to celebrate out with the old, in with the new than a list of what to know for JEWELRY Trends in the upcoming new year?! According toJCKthe Jewelers Manual, here is what they have observed (we especially LOVE that Costume + Vintage Jewelry made the cut!): jewelry trends are derived from the three rs: red carpet, runway, and real life. here’s a list of 12 trends compiled through jewelry market research…jck 12/18/12

*Emerald. It’s the color of the year per PANTONE, and is being widely used in the fashion collections of numerous clothing designers, not to mention the stone itself has been a big hit on the red carpet for some time.
*Subtle Drop Earrings. They make a slightly bigger statement than last year’s studs—widely worn on the red carpet—and coordinate with many a fashion silhouette, so the petite drop earring is a style to watch this year.
*Black and White. The colors are still all over the runways, and with 2012’s Art Deco effects happily lingering, black and white will remain in style for quite a while.
*Snakes. According to the Asian calendar, 2013 is the year of the snake!
*Drusy.  The flat-backed, crystal-dusted mineral has an organic look many consumers love, is relatively inexpensive, and is available in a wide variety of colors.
*Cabochons. …They fit perfectly with spring’s casual clothes such as slouchy suits, loose-fitting pants, and denim.
*Hair Ornaments. Think barrettes and hairbands, but also tiaras and crowns.
*Amber. It’s light, inexpensive, beautiful, not widely used—yet—in fine jewelry…
*Soft and Sweet. Petite karat gold pendants speak to the still-soaring price of gold…
*Brass, Bronze, and Well-Made Costume. Casual couture rules this spring, making room for earthy materials, denim, slouchy silhouettes, and the well-placed, well-made costume jewel
*Chinoiserie. Asian motifs were on the spring runways, and they’ve also cropped up in jewelry in the form of bamboo motifs, jade, cherry blossom motifs, and more.
*Estate. More retailers are directing shoppers to vintage stock to find great deals on wedding sets, fine gemstones, period looks, and more. And with the resurgence of Art Deco looks last year, shoppers are discovering those styles and more have long-lasting appeal.

Lucky for you we have PLENTY of the above at Laura James Jewelry created by hand every day to feed your Jewelry Trend Fix!
