The clear winners of looks we loved from last night were those that had a 70′s retro throw back look to them like Rose Bryne’s neutral Elie Saab pantsuit and bob hair cut and Angelina Jolie’s black halter Jenny Packham dress paired with vintage jewelry. We also loved those who opted for dresses in bright and bold shades of blue and green, like Jessica Chastain’s bright blue Calvin Klein Collection dress, or the bright green one shoulder Oscar de la Renta dress worn by Emily Blunt. Additional standout looks worth noting were the ladies who dared to wear red like Kera Sedgewick, Diana Argon, and Michelle Williams. While others like Natalie Portman and Judy Greer opted to play it safe dress color wise, with shades ranging from neutral-whites to jet-blacks, but gave their looks edge by pairing their dresses with vintage gold and bold colored stone jewelry (but enough about dresses as our true love is always the jewelry that completes each and every one of these looks!).

Sundance, founded by actor Robert Redford in 1981with merely a handful of colleagues, has transformed over the years into the ultimate “See & Be Seen” Winter destination for indie film newcomers and industry giants, actors, celebrities, and socialites alike. The charming and typically low-key ski town is overtaken by the industry this time each year for a week of screenings, skiing, parties… and Style Lounges filled with free swag including the latest jewelry and fashion labels. Here at Laura James Jewelry we live for the eclectic trends spotted at the festival which run the gamut from Street-Savvy to Chalet Chic.

This year the Jewelry Trends for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival ranged from chic stud earrings, layered gold charm necklaces, and stacked bangles to  tribal inspired statement necklaces like this bold design on actress Kristen Bell:

Fashion standouts included trend-setter Kirsten Dunst, a red-lipped Kate Bosworth, and the ever-androgynous Rashida Jones. Though fur-lined boots, vests, jackets and gloves were de rigueur on the slopes and streets, the favored shade when the sun went down was…black, of course.

Rarely does an auction of someone’s personal belongings warrant its’ very own world tour, however when the collection belongs to Elizabeth Taylor; world famous screen goddess, ETAF founder and life long humanitarian of world causes; a four month world tour only seems fitting! With the world tour completed The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor has returned to the States and is currently on exhibit at Christie’s New York, Rockefeller Center Gallery.  Christie’s has devoted the entire Rockefeller Center Gallery space to house this truly magnificent collection, comprised of amazing jewels, fashion, art, decorative arts and memorabilia; providing potential bidders and fans alike the once in a lifetime opportunity to view The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, as a lead up to the five day sale.  The upcoming five day sale kicks off with two evening sales of, The Legendary Jewels, Evening Sale (I) on Dec 13th, followed by The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor: The Icon and her Haute Couture, Evening Sale (III) on Dec 14th.  Both are sure to draw great attendance of the who’s who of the collecting world as well as fans of the legendary screen goddess.  Three additional day sales will be held Wednesday, Dec 14th- Friday December 16th, where additional items from The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor will hit the auction block, Jewelry (II), Dec 14th,  Fashion and Accessories (IV), Dec 15th, and will conclude on Dec 16th with the sale of  Fine and Decorative Art & Film Memorabilia, including Costumes.
